The Story Behind Zellige

Traditional Moroccan craft, glaze that moves with the light

Each Zellige tile is handmade in the centuries-old Moroccan tradition — hand-shaped, hand-glazed and kiln-fired in small batches. The glaze is intentionally uneven, pooling and clearing across the face so the colour reads differently as the light changes through the day.

With more than 40 colorways and naturally organic edges, no two tiles — or two installations — are exactly alike. Zellige is rated for residential and commercial use across walls and floors, including wet areas, and is at its best on kitchens, baths, feature walls and backsplashes.
